Recycle Old Batteries At South Brunswick Library On Earth Day

On Earth Day, April 22, people can drop off rechargeable and single-use batteries for recycling.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Millions of batteries are thrown away each year, which end up in landfills and hurt the environment and people.

If not disposed of properly, a lithium-ion battery can explode. If you have batteries lying at home and are looking for a way to dispose of them, here's your chance.

The South Brunswick Public Library will have a battery recycling bin in the lobby in honor of Earth Day on April 22, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The non-profit was started by Edison teen Sri Nihal Tammana, won the prestigious CNN Heroes Young Wonder Award for his work last year. More: Edison Teen Wins CNN Heroes Young Wonder Award For Environmental Work
