South Brunswick Fireworks Still On For Friday, July 6

After a few more showers between now and 2 p.m. Friday, the skies will clear and the event will go on tonight.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — As of 1 p.m., the South Brunswick fireworks for Friday night, July 6 are still a go! Tonight’s fireworks and independence celebration will take place starting at 6 p.m., South Brunswick police said. The weather is expected to clear by 4 p.m. today.

"We look like we will be OK for tonight," Deputy Chief Jim Ryan of the South Brunswick police department told Patch. "It's not raining now and any storms will be over by 3."

Come join us for a great night. After a few more showers between now and 2 p.m. Friday, the skies will clear and the event will go on tonight. The live band is warming up and the fireworks are being driven to the location. The food vendors are getting all their supplies ready. South Brunswick's fireworks will take place from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Crossroads Middle School on the corner of Major Road and Kingston Lane. The party starts at 6:00 p.m. with live music with the highlighted fireworks taking place at 9:15 p.m. This celebration is typically one of the largest Township-sponsored events and will have live music, food vendors, and fireworks.

  • 6pm - “The Fabulous Grease Band” will be playing music from the 1960’s through the present: Main Stage
  • 6pm – 9pm – Food vendors and games: Fields by Crossroads South
  • 9:15pm – Fireworks

TRAFFIC

South Brunswick Police are advising residents that there will be increased traffic in and around the school and surrounding neighborhoods. The streets of Major Road, Kingston Lane and Georges Road will have increased pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Officers will be stationed in and around the event to assist with traffic issues.There will be no parking allowed on Major Road near the school. Police anticipate the greatest volume of traffic between 7:30pm and 10pm. Fireworks are scheduled to go off at 9:15pm.

PARKING

The primary location for parking will be Crossroads South Middle School parking lots off Kingston Lane. There will be no general parking at the Crossroads North parking lots off Georges Road. Additional parking will be at the South Brunswick Public Library and the Municipal Complex.
