Robbinsville Wrestler Said He Was Bullied, Beaten by Teammate

A sophomore said a senior would beat him, punch him and whip him with a metal jump rope in front of other wrestlers.

Robbinsville, NJ - A sophomore on the Robbinsville High School wrestling team, which South Brunswick competes against, testified that he was bullied and beaten by a fellow wrestling team member, reports NJ.com.

Braydon Mackey testified before the Robbinsville school board Monday night, where he said he was punched in the chest and often whipped with a metal jump rope by Dylan James, a senior. He said he would often ask James why he was picking on him, and James would tell him to “shut up.”

When the allegations first came to light in early December James was kicked off the wrestling team.

James apologized at the board of ed meeting, and his father said it’s part of a culture of bullying on the wrestling team.

“My son, quite honestly, in the culture of the program over the last several years, he’s experienced similar issues,” Ed James said at the meeting, according to NJ.com.
