Route 1 Closures In South Brunswick; Bad Conditions In Area

Portions of Route 1 in South Brunswick were closed on Sunday. Memorial Day parades in the area and across the state had to change plans.

Portions of Route 1 in South Brunswick were closed on Sunday as thunderstorms brought flooding to the area, police said.

Route 1 south was closed at Promenade Boulevard and Route 1 north was down to one lane at Ridge Road, police said (see road conditions below).

In Princeton, Quaker Road closed, and part of Mercer Road south of Lovers Lane closed because of a downed tree. Mercer Road south of Quaker Road also had flooding.

Memorial Day parades in the area and across the state had to change plans. The Edison Memorial Day Parade was canceled, and the Barnegat Memorial Day Ceremony scheduled for 10 a.m. was moved to the American Legion Post on North Main Street.

  • US 130: Flooding on US 130 northbound at south of CR 571/Princeton-Hightstown Rd in East Windsor Twp. All lanes closed and detoured.
  • US 202: Downed tree on US 202 in both directions area of Harter Rd in Morris Twp. 1 lane closed.
  • NJ 29: Downed tree and Downed wires and Flooding on NJ 29 in both directions between Fiddlers Creek Rd and Pleasant Valley Rd in Hopewell Twp. All lanes closed.
  • US 1: Flooding on US 1 in both directions at Raymond Rd in South Brunswick Twp. One lane closed; use caution.
  • US 130: Flooding on US 130 southbound at Church Rd in Robbinsville. Right lane closed.
  • NJ 34: Flooding on NJ 34 in both directions at Collingswood Circle in Howell Twp. All lanes closed.
  • US 1: Flooding on US 1 southbound at South of NJ 18 in New Brunswick. Ramp closed.
  • NJ 31: Flooding on NJ 31 in both directions at South of CR 579/Harbourton Rd in East Amwell Twp. 1 lane closed.
  • NJ 35: Flooding on NJ 35 in both directions at NJ 71/H Street in Belmar. All lanes closed.
  • NJ 33: Flooding on NJ 33 Business in both directions between US 9 and CR 537/West Main St in Freehold Twp. 1 lane may be blocked.
  • NJ 35: Flooding on NJ 35 in both directions area of CR 547/Wyckoff Rd in Eatontown. All lanes closed and detoured.
  • NJ 71: Flooding on NJ 71 in both directions Brighton Av in Deal. All lanes closed.
  • NJ 33: Flooding on NJ 33 in both directions area of Collingswood Circle in Wall Twp. All lanes closed and detoured.
  • NJ 79: Flooding on NJ 79 in both directions in the vicinity of CR 537/Main St in Freehold Twp. All lanes closed.
  • NJ 35: Flooding on NJ 35 northbound ramp to NJ 88 in Point Pleasant Beach. Ramp closed and detoured.
  • NJ 18: Flooding on NJ 18 southbound North of Exit 6 - NJ 138 in Wall Twp. Ramp closed and detoured.
  • NJ 35: Flooding on NJ 35 northbound at CR 689/Lawrence Pkwy in Old Bridge Twp. All lanes closed.
  • New Jersey Turnpike: Accident on the New Jersey Turnpike southbound South of Interchange 5 - CR 541 in Westampton Twp. Left lane blocked.
  • NJ 73: Traffic signal down on NJ 73 northbound north of CR 609/Stiles Av/Princeton Ave in Maple Shade Twp. Right lane closed for repairs.
  • NJ 35: Incident on NJ 35 southbound ramp to Ernston Rd in Sayreville. Exit ramp closed for repairs.
  • Garden State Parkway: Accident on the Garden State Parkway southbound north of Exit 102 - Asbury Av in Tinton Falls. All lanes open.
  • I-295: Accident on I-295 southbound north of Exit 71 - Federal City Rd in Hopewell Twp. Left lane closed.
  • I-287: Overturned tractor trailer on I-287 southbound south of Exit 13 - NJ 28 in Bridgewater Twp. Left lane closed.
  • NJ 38: Overturned vehicle and a Utility Pole Down on NJ 38 eastbound approaching CR 607/Church Rd in Moorestown Twp. Right lane remains closed use caution.
  • Goethals Bridge: Speed restriction on the Goethals Bridge in both directions from New Jersey side in Elizabeth to New York side in Staten Island; 30 miles per hour due to long term construction.
