Somerset Man Killed, 2 Others Injured In Route 130 Crash In South Brunswick

The man was thrown from his autocycle and killed Friday morning, while two others were injured, police said.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A 64-year-old Somerset man died Friday morning after he was ejected from his autocycle following a multi-vehicle crash on Route 130 at Melrich Road, South Brunswick police said.

Officers responded to the scene at 6:45 a.m. and found the victim on the ground. Emergency medical personnel performed life-saving measures before South Brunswick EMS took the man to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, Deputy Police Chief Jim Ryan said.

Investigators determined the man was driving a 2020 Spyder autocycle southbound on Route 130 when a 2024 Kia SUV, driven by a 58-year-old Freehold man traveling north, attempted a left turn onto Melrich Road. The autocycle struck the passenger side of the Kia, overturned and then hit a 2026 Honda Odyssey that was stopped at the Melrich Road stop sign, Ryan said.
