- Lock car doors at night – Most cases of theft from cars involve unlocked vehicles, said police. Locking car doors will go a long way in protecting belongings, even if residents are parked in their own driveway.
- Don’t leave valuables in vehicles – If nothing of value is left in the vehicle, residents will eliminate their losses should someone enter their vehicle. This is especially true for wallets and purses.
- Take car keys with you - Don’t leave proximity sensing key fob or keys in your vehicle. Thieves who might otherwise just be looking for valuables to steal may be tempted to take the car if they come across keys.
