Sign Up For South Brunswick's Fall Citizen Police Academy

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The deadline is approaching for South Brunswick's Citizen Police Academy!

The Fall 2018 Citizen Police Academy will offer training on a range of law enforcement topics, including motor vehicle laws, criminal law and use of force. In addition, citizens will learn about crime-scene processing, defensive tactics and internal affairs. The Academy will culminate with a day of practical exercises where students will handle simulated motor vehicle stops, disputes and other realistic scenarios.

The start date is September 20. Classes will be held every Thursday night in the training center at police headquarters for 11 weeks from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. (There will be no class on November 22, Thanksgiving Day.) Graduation from the Academy is set for December 6. The Academy size is limited, so residents are encouraged to complete their application as soon as possible.

In order to be admitted into the Academy, South Brunswick residents must complete an application and go through a screening process. Interested community members should contact Julie Trammell by email at CPA@sbtnj.net. Applications MUST be submitted by this Friday, August 24.
