South Brunswick Vikings Gold - 9UB Season Recap

Memorial Day Bash Friday May 27 to Monday May 30, 2011:

• The first tournament for the 2010 Summer Tournament Season. The team finished 1-2 in third place but fought to the end in every game. The highlight of the tournament for the team was a tremendous comeback against the host team Monroe. Down 8-0 after two innings, the team chipped away one inning at a time. After key hitting and great base running they were able to fight back and ultimately out score Monroe 11-10. It was a proud moment for the team and the coaches. It's what every coach wishes for - a group of players that does not quit until the last out of the game is made.

Hopewell Valley Baseball "2011 Bad Dawgs Invitational Thrusday 6/30 to Monday 7/4:

• The team finished 3-1. Made it to the Championship game against Hopewell Valley. To get to the Championship game will played against two teams from Pennsylvania (Quakertown and Harleysville) and the host Hopewell Valley. To get to the finals this team beat Hopewell Valley 15-4, Quakertown 15-4, and Harleysville 7-5. The highlight for this tournament was when they had to play a double header on Saturday 7/2 with a 3 hour gap between games. Although it was in the 90's all day, they fought through a very hot long day that started at 1:45pm and ended around 9:30pm

Montgomery Baseball Tournament Saturday 6/18 to Monday 7/5:

• Team finished 1-3. All games were close. They beat the host team 7 - 3. Played North Brunswick in a battle of the Brunswick but lost 7-6. Monroe revenged their lose to SB at their tournament by beating them 10-7. The final game here was a loss to Flemingtion 15-10.

East Brunswick Summer Slug Fest:

• They started this tournament by beating the host team 16-0. The second game was against what is becoming a good old rivalry between SB and Monroe. For this game it was another hard fought battle where they can up short 5 - 1. The third game was against Bayonne where the Vikings' hitting was too much for their pitching. Final score was 20-2.
• As of 7/7 the Vikings are the second seed in EB with a victory tonight against Bridgewater, the 3rd seed would place SB in the championship game this Saturday against the winner of Monroe and Bayonne.
