South Brunswick Best Buy To Close Oct. 28

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The Best Buy electronics store on Rt. 1 in Monmouth Junction will close Oct. 28, the Best Buy corporate offices confirmed to Patch Tuesday.

The store, at 4180 Rt. 1, never fully recovered from the recession that struck in 2008, a store spokesman said. The store chose not to renew their commercial lease in the shopping complex, which houses a SuperCuts and the PetSmart.

"It’s never an easy decision to not renew a store lease," said Best Buy spokesman Kevin Flanagan. "This was a business decision and has no reflection on our staff or the hard work they have done. This store opened ten years ago as Best Buy was competing with Circuit City. Since the Great Recession, sales at this store have never recovered."

Princeton – less than 10 miles away

East Brunswick – about 15 miles away

It is unknown at this time what will move into that location.
