Mark Kraft expected this to be a rebuilding year for his South Brunswick High School boys golf team. Fortunately, South Brunswick rebuilt at a really fast rate.
South Brunswick has won seven of its first 10 regular season matches. South Brunswick also added a third-place finish in the Viking Classic on May 3.
"We have the two seniors -- Spencer Alexander and Andrew Bergamasco -- that have done a nice job leading the team," Coach Kraft noted. "The younger guys have also really stepped up for us."

"The guys did a great job," Kraft said.

St. Joe's won the 12-team field, followed by a team from Philadelphia and South Brunswick.
St. Joe's is also one of the teams that managed a win against South Brunswick. In a tri-match, St. Joe's topped South Brunswick with a round of 173 on Apr. 20. South Brunswick's 178 that day, however, was good enough to defeat JFK's 227.
Sean Yun shot a round of 42, followed by a 44 by Matt Lagarenne, 46s by Kevin Lagarenne and Ahuja, a 47 by Alexander and a 48 by Devin Naik.
On Apr. 27, South Brunswick defeated South Plainfield, 155-161, at the Plainfield County Club West Nine.
"That was a good win," Kraft said. "South Plainfield never loses at home."
Ken Lagarenne had a round of 36, Yun a 38 and Ahuja a 40.
"Those are very good scores," Kraft noted.
South Brunswick most recent win was 162-191 over JP Stevens on May 2.
Bergamasco had a round of 38, Yun and Ahuja 41s, Alexander a 42, Matt Lagarenne a 47 and Kevin Lagarenne a 48.
"That's a 29-shot difference against a very good JP Stevens team," Kraft said.
That's not the kind of performance one expects from a rebuilding team. But when Kraft asked his guys if they could build a good team quickly, they stole a line from Bob The Builder: "Yes, we can."
