South Brunswick Celebrates National EMS Week
As part of the weeklong celebration, township schools had students write thank you letters to EMS members.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - May 15-21 is National EMS Week – recognizing the hard work and importance that emergency medical services provide the community.
On Monday, South Brunswick honored the township’s EMS workers. As part of the weeklong celebration, township schools had students write thank you letters to EMS members.
Students from Greenbrook Elementary, Monmouth Junction Elementary, Noor-UL-Iman School, and St. Augustine of Canterbury School sent in thank you letters this year.

Mayor Charley Carley thanked the township’s EMS community for their dedication and tireless efforts.
"This is National EMS week and we are so thankful to all the members of the Kendall Park First Aid and Rescue Squad, Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad, and South Brunswick EMS for all they do every day. These men and women answer the call 24 hours a day, seven days a week," Carley said.

"Their work saves lives and makes a difference every day. Our EMS answered 4,600 medical calls last year. Their tireless efforts and dedication have made us the great community we are and we are forever grateful."
The first national EMS Week was in 1974, declared by President Gerald Ford, according to the American College of Emergency Physicians. On May 13, The White House issued an EMS Week 2022 proclamation.
"During Emergency Medical Services Week, we share our appreciation for the selfless EMS professionals who provide lifesaving services every day and risk their lives each time they answer the call of service," President Joe Biden said in a statement. "We also honor the EMS providers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty to protect their fellow Americans. Our Nation owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to these heroes and their loved ones."
