
The South Brunswick High School girls’ tennis team’s playoff run came to an end this week when the eighth-seeded Bears fell to No. 1 seed West Windsor-Plainsboro South, 5-0, in the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 4 playoffs, according to nj.com.
West Windsor South remained undefeated with the win, while South Brunswick dropped to 5-4 on the season.
The doubles team of Avni Bali and Neeharika Kishore advanced to semifinals of the state doubles tournament before falling.

They opened the tournament with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Southern Regional’s Brooke Van Waalwijk and Jess Hicks.
In the second round, they eliminated St. John Vianney’s Gianna Mavica and Dana Stofany, 6-3, 6-1.

In the third round, they defeated Sanjana Ravi and Angela Li, of West Windsor-Plainsboro South, 6-2, 6-4.
In the quarterfinals, they defeated Montville's t Joanna Fass and Jillian Garfunkel, 6-4, 6-3.
Their run came to an end in the semifinals, when they fell Millburn’s Stephanie Chen-Schmidt and Sandy Xie, 7-5, 7-5.

Boys' soccer
South Brunswick 3, Old Bridge 1: Patrick Grudnick paved the road to victory with a pair of goals. Jorge De la bandera had the other goal, while Nasser Aamer, Tommy Dorsay and Joe Mastro each provided an assist. Goalie Erich Kaiser made four saves.
South Brunswick 3, St. Joseph (Metuchen) 0: Harrison Kudwitt had a goal and an assist, while Jorge De la bandera and Joe Mastro each provided scores. Tommy Dorsay had two assists. Erich Kaiser and Arvind Swaminathan split time in goal for the shutout, make four saves and one save, respectively.
A 2-0 loss to Monroe on Saturday dropped South Brunswick to 8-4-1.
Girls' soccer
South Brunswick 3, Monroe 1: Brielle Errico and Miho Yamada each had a goal and an assist. Fran Dimitrakis found the back of the net and Cagne Antczak provided the assist as South Brunswick moved to 8-5 this season. Goalie Sydney Schneider made five stops.
Old Bridge 2, South Brunswick 1: Samantha Stojanovski had the only goal for South Brunswick. Goalie Sydney Schneider made 13 saves, but it wasn’t enough in the loss.
South Brunswick 2, J.P. Stevens 1: Cagnie Antczak and Brielle Errico each found the back of the net. Rebecca Michael assisted on both goals. Goalie Sydney Schneider made five saves in the win.
