SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - This Saturday, April 29 from 10 a.m to 2 p.m., the South Brunswick Police Department is taking part in the Drug Enforcement Agency's National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. This one-day event will provide residents with no cost anonymous collection of unwanted and expired medicines. Prescription medicine can be disposed of at the South Brunswick police headquarters (540 Ridge Road in Monmouth Junction) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day.

Police are urging residents to safely dispose of their unused, unwanted and expired medicine. The campaign calls on residents to clear out their medicine cabinets. Unused medications in homes create a public health and safety concern, because they can be accidentally ingested, stolen, misused, and abused.

Medications should be taken out of their original containers and placed into paper/plastic bags. Liquids, such as cough medicines, should be kept in their original containers. No syringes or sharp objects will be accepted. Anyone with questions can call (732) 329-4000 ext. 7447.
