South Brunswick Earns 'Healthy Town' Honor For Second Straight Year

The township was recognized for programs addressing food insecurity, transportation barriers, and health equity.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - South Brunswick has earned a "Healthy Town" designation from the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute's Mayors Wellness Campaign for the second consecutive year, recognized for its coordinated approach to community health across multiple departments and programs.

The designation honors municipalities that show innovation in promoting physical activity, healthy eating, mental health education, and overall well-being.

South Brunswick was recognized for initiatives addressing food insecurity, homelessness, transportation barriers, and language access — including mobile food pantry events and outreach fairs in underserved neighborhoods.

"Earning this recognition for a second consecutive year reflects our sustained commitment to advancing community health and wellness for all our residents," Mayor Charles Carley said.

"From our annual health and wellness events and educational outreach to continued investment in our parks and recreational facilities, South Brunswick Township remains committed to creating opportunities that help our residents stay healthy and thrive."

The township also supports older residents through senior programs and adults with special needs through its Pioneer Program, which provides inclusive recreational opportunities.

The Mayors Wellness Campaign is a statewide initiative of the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute in partnership with the New Jersey State League of Municipalities. A record 45 municipalities received the Healthy Town designation in 2025.
