
With four more wins this past week, the South Brunswick High School girls lacrosse team improved to 11-0 and is setting up a chance to win some titles.
"We're a very solid team," South Brunswick Coach John Coppola said. "We're well balanced on offense, defense and in goal."
This past week South Brunswick even defeated a talented Monroe squad on two different occasions. South Brunswick won, 12-5, on Apr. 21. South Brunswick won, 13-8, on Apr. 30.

On Apr. 21, Casey Armstrong had four goals and two assists. Angie Goff had three goals and three assists. Jenna Bussiere had three goals. Blaire Nathanson made seven saves in goal.
On Apr. 30, Armstrong had four goals and two assists. Goff and Bussiere both had three goals.

"Monroe is a good team," Coppola noted. "It looks like the division championship will come down to us and them. We also played them the last couple of years in the county championship and won."
South Brunswick will begin its pursuit of the Greater Middlesex Conference title on May 7. The semifinals will be held at Monroe on May 9 and the finals will be held on May 11 at East Brunswick.
In addition to the wins over Monroe, South Brunswick also defeated South Plainfield and East Brunswick this past week.
On Apr. 23, South Brunswick defeated East Brunswick, 15-2.
Casey Armstrong scored five goals and Elle Hvozdovic added four goals.
On Apr. 29, South Brunswick defeated South Plainfield, 18-2.
Armstrong had three goals and two assists. Bussiere scored three goals. Goff (assist), Hvozdovic and Kelly O'Brien (two assists) scored two goals each. Kristen Cooney added a goal and three assists.
"We have a lot of scorers," Coppola said. "The opposition can't just focus on one or two girls. We usually have seven or eight different scorers a game.
"We're an experienced team. We've been playing pretty good lacrosse all year. We're consistent and we play together."
That's how a team becomes 11-0 and gets in position to win some titles.
