South Brunswick Girls' Tennis Team Advances in Playoffs

South Brunswick defeated Colts Neck, 5-0.

The eighth-seeded South Brunswick High School girls' tennis team opened the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 4 playoffs with a shutout.

South Brunswick defeated No. 9 Colts Neck, 5-0, according to nj.com.

At first singles, Tanya Krishnakumar defeated Riya Patel, 6-1, 6-1. Rachel Rebello downed Gabby Roth, 6-1, 6-0, at second singles.

The third singles match provided the biggest challenge for South Brunswick as Anisha Malhotra defeated Jillian Villany, 7-5, 6-1.

Avni Bali and Neeharika Kishore were victorious over Isheetah Parikh and Erin Walenczyk, 6-0, 6-1.

Prathyusha Pandu and Nikita Roy defeated Julianna Heck and Maddison Nuzo, 6-0, 6-0.

South Brunswick will now visit top-seeded West Windsor-Plainsboro South on Tuesday.

Boys’ soccer 

North Brunswick 2, South Brunswick 1: North Brunswick broke a 1-1 tie in the second half to drop South Brunswick to 6-3-1. Patrick Grudnik had the lone goal for South Brunswick. Goalie Erich Kaiser made eight saves.

South Brunswick 6, Sayreville 0: Jared Man led the way with two goals and an assist, and Tommy Dorsay scored a pair of goals. Jorge De la Bandera had a goal and an assist, and Nasser Aamer added a tally to round out the scoring.

Santiago Giraldo, Harrison Kudwitt, Sean Louhisdon and Jermaine Small all contributed assists.

Goalies Erich Kaiser and Arvind Swaminathan split time in goal, making three saves in the shutout.

Girls’ soccer 

South Brunswick 1, Piscataway 0: Brielle Errico scored the only goal of the game as South Brunswick improved to 6-4. South Brunswick keeper Casey Savoth made nine saves.

South Brunswick 3, Edison 0: Brielle Erico and Julianna Franco each had a goal and an assist, while Jenna Mastronardi added the other goal. Goalie Sydney Schneider made three saves in the shutout.
