South Brunswick Hiring For School Crossing Guard Positions

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - South Brunswick is recruiting part-time school crossing guards to help ensure the safety of children traveling to and from school.

Crossing guards are responsible for regulating traffic to safely direct schoolchildren across streets during designated hours, the posting states. All work is performed outdoors regardless of weather conditions, and assignments can be located anywhere throughout the township.

Shift times vary by school and are subject to change on early release days. Example post times listed by the township include 8:45 to 9:15 a.m. and 3:20 to 3:50 p.m.; 7:45 to 8:15 a.m. and 3:25 to 3:55 p.m.; and 7 to 7:30 a.m. and 2:50 to 3:20 p.m.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or GED, along with a valid New Jersey driver's license and a good driving record, according to the posting. Candidates must also pass a thorough criminal history and background check, complete two hours of classroom training and 20 hours of on-the-job training, and successfully complete a six-month probation period.

The township is looking for candidates in good physical condition who can communicate instructions clearly and recognize potentially dangerous traffic situations in time to prevent injury, the posting states. All crossing guards are issued a uniform to be worn during working hours.
