South Brunswick Honors Contributions Of African Americans During Black History Month
The resolution highlights this year's national theme, "A Century of Black History Commemorations."
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Mayor Charles Carley and the South Brunswick Council honored the contributions of African Americas to the community during the last council meeting. The council formally recognized February as Black History Month, by adopting a resolution.
The resolution acknowledged this year's national observance theme — "A Century of Black History Commemorations" — which marks 100 years of national efforts to commemorate Black history in the United States.
"African Americans have enhanced and advanced every aspect of American life," the resolution states, noting that their fight for equality, representation and respect "motivates us to continue working for a more promising, peaceful, and hopeful future for every American."

The resolution also recognized community leaders, Black business owners and professionals who promote wellbeing and knowledge throughout the township, describing them as an integral part of South Brunswick's broader inclusive community.
The township reaffirmed its commitment to building "a society where every individual has the opportunity to achieve the promise of this great land" and renewed the township's pledge to strive for equality for all residents.
