South Brunswick Man Charged For Drunk Driving: Police
The crash took place on Aug. 15 around 2 a.m. on Promenade Boulevard at Princeton Walk Boulevard, and involved a motorcycle and a car.
SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — South Brunswick police charged a man with drunk driving and auto assault on Friday, chief Raymond J. Hayducka announced.
The crash took place on Aug. 15 shortly after 2 a.m. on Promenade Boulevard at Princeton Walk Boulevard, and involved a motorcycle and a car.
According to police, Aditya Shajil, 23, of South Brunswick, collided with a motorcycle headed westbound on Promenade Boulevard. The motorcycle driver, Justin Wijesinghe, 20, also from South Brunswick, suffered serious head and spinal injuries, and was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, said the police.

Police said they administered a field sobriety test on Shajil, and later obtained a search warrant for his blood. The blood was sent to the New Jersey State Police lab for analysis, and returned earlier this week, according to the police.
“This crash just reminds every one of the dangers of drinking and driving. Two lives will forever be altered by this crash. Please keep Justin and his family in your thoughts and prayers as he continues his long recovery,” Hayducka said in a statement.

Police charged Shajil with a 3rd degree count of assault by auto resulting in serious bodily injury and driving while under the influence, as well as other motor vehicle charges.
