South Brunswick Muslims To Begin Ramadan This Saturday
Mosque members will be making sandwiches/lunches to give to the Hunger Van this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Muslims around the world will begin the month of Ramadan, or the month of fasting, this Saturday, May 27. From pre-dawn until sunset, Muslims refrain from eating and drinking. And members of the Islamic Society of Central Jersey (ISCJ) in South Brunswick will be among those observing this special time of year.
On Saturday, members of ISCJ will start their first day of fasting by making sandwiches/lunches to give to the Hunger Van for their monthly "Feed The Homeless" event. That will be from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the mosque. The Hunger Van brings food and other essential items to the homeless on the streets, engages communities and helps promote a unanimous pledge to serve humanity.
On Saturday evening at sunset, ISCJ will host an Iftar or dinner for the community to celebrate the first day of fasting. Following the special dinner, special nightly prayers held during the month of fasting, called Taraweeh, will be held. The Islamic Society of Central Jersey is located at 4145 US Rt. 1 in Monmouth Junction.
