South Brunswick Introduces Ordinance To Change Composition Of Police Department
The ordinance also seeks to adjust the department's promotion criteria.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – During the regular meeting last week, Council introduced an ordinance that seeks to change the composition of the township police department.
The ordinance seeks to amend and supplement Chapter 66, which will also adjust the department's promotion criteria.
Based on the proposed ordinance, the police department will limit Special Class II officers to 25 percent of the agency. The department will have a maximum of 15 Class III officers.

All new applicants who do not have a PTC Basic Police Officer Certificate will be required to get a NJ Police Training Commission General Physical Conditioning Testing Procedures before being hired, the proposed ordinance says.
The examination process for promotions will also change. The exam will include a written test, service record review, and a roundtable interview.
