South Brunswick PD Ask Public Help In Burglary, Animal Cruelty Case

Three men forced entry into a home in Greyhound Court and a motorist driving on Route 130 saw a dog tied to a tree with a leash, police said

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The South Brunswick Police Department is seeking the public's help in two ongoing investigations - one involving burglary and the other animal cruelty.

On Thursday at 1:50 p.m. police responded to a report of a burglary at Greyhound Court. The resident was home and heard the front doorbell ring but ignored it, police said. A few minutes later, the resident saw three men force entry to the rear sliding door. The suspects fled when they saw the resident, police said.

The suspects were all wearing surgical masks. One was wearing all black with a black hoodie, another was wearing a white t-shirt, and the third man was wearing a grey hoodie and grey sweatpants, police said.

The men fled the area in a grey Honda Accord or Altima. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Jamal Benbow at (732) 329-4648.

On Wednesday, Aug. 17, at 8:45 p.m. a motorist driving on Route 130 close to NJ Turnpike Exit 8A saw a dog tied to a tree with a leash, police said. The dog, a white and orange pitbull, was unneutered and appeared underweight.

Investigators are looking for witnesses that may have seen a vehicle or truck stopped on the side of the road in that area between 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Det. Monica Posteraro is investigating the case and anyone with information is asked to call Det. Posteraro at (732) 329-4648.
