South Brunswick Police have charged the suspected driver in the Memorial Day crash that critically injured one person.

South Brunswick Police have charged the suspected driver in the Memorial Day crash that critically injured one person.

Guadalupe Hernandez, 52, of New Brunswick was driving with a suspended license when he crashed at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, police said.

Hernandez was driving a 2008 Dodge pickup owned by Fantastic Creation Landscaping of Lawrence eastbound on Deans Rhode Hall Road when it left the roadway and struck a tree, police said.

Hernandez’s passenger suffered a serious head injury and internal injuries. He was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Police are still working to positively identify the passenger.

Hernandez was charged with a 4th degree crime of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and being involved in a motor vehicle crash resulting in serious injury. His bail was set at $2,500 for that offense, police said.

In addition he had warrants out of Freehold totaling $3,500 and East Brunswick totaling $1,000. Hernandez was lodged in the Middlesex County Correction Center pending his first court appearance.
