South Brunswick Police Solve Burglary Case From 2015

Jeuri Vargas, 23, from New Brunswick was charged with burglary.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – South Brunswick Police have solved a burglary case from 2015, the department announced on Monday.

Jeuri Vargas, 23, from New Brunswick was charged with burglary, theft of movable property, and conspiracy to commit burglary, said police.

According to police, on Dec 5. 2015, officers responded to a home on Joann Court, Monmouth Junction for a reported burglary. Residents told officers they were upstairs in their bedrooms when they heard noises. Officers said one of the residents walked out to find two men standing on their upstairs landing, who then fled downstairs and left through a rear sliding door.

An X Box game console, laptop computer and two bottles of wine were stolen from the residence, said police.

Officer Sean Roberts, a Department Evidence Technician, processed the scene and recovered evidence including fingerprints from the rear door and an iPod case, said police. The fingerprints were submitted to the New Jersey State Police Lab for examination.

In December 2019, a fingerprint from the investigation was matched to Jeuri Vargas, police said. The burglary case was then re-opened by Detective Bryan Sites. On Sep. 23rd, Sites found Vargas near his residence in New Brunswick and he was arrested, said police.

Vargas was lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending his first court appearance.

“The excellent crime scene processing of Officer Roberts and continued efforts by Detective Sites played a crucial part in this investigation. Good modern-day forensics helped solve this case and led to the arrest of Vargas,” said Chief Raymond Hayducka.
