South Brunswick Reorganization: Camarota Re-Elected Deputy Mayor

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ —Joe Camarota was unanimously re-elected to serve as Deputy Mayor of South Brunswick during the Council reorganization meeting held recently.

Camarota won another term on Council during the November 2020 election.

“We expect Joe to do great things in 2022 and keep on all his liaisons has he has been doing since 2005,” Mayor Charlie Carley said.

Camarota thanked the Council members for their trust in him and said he hoped to live up to all expectations.

During the meeting, the Council voted to appoint Bryan B. Bidlack, the Township Manager as the Public Agency Compliance Officer for South Brunswick for 2022. Bidlack was also authorized to act as Contracting Agent for contracts and settle worker's compensation matters for amounts up to $25,000.

The Council passed a resolution fixing the interest rate of nonpayment of taxes at 8 percent on the First $1,500 and 18 percent for payments in excess of $1,500.

Later, Bidlack updated the Council and the public on COVID-19. The Township Manager said they intend to keep municipal offices open through this surge by putting in place various mitigation efforts.

The Township has also tied up with Penn Medicine Princeton to offer COVID-19 vaccines at the senior center. From Jan. 24, 4-6 p.m., there will be a clinic, but registration is currently fill. “We will continue to schedule further clinics as we move forward throughout this pandemic,” Bidlack said.

Officials are also in talks with Penn Medicine to establish a COVID-19 testing site in town. More details will be revealed at a future date.
