South Brunswick Reports Highest Weekly COVID Total In Three Month

Town says the new increase could be college related.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — South Brunswick on Monday said it recorded the highest weekly increase in COVID-19 cases since May.

Seventeen people tested positive of COVID-19 last week, with one being below the age of 18. This is also the first time since June 14 that the town has reported cases in the double digits.

The Office of Emergency Management attributed this increase to college-related cases. Although many students might be attending college out of state, if tested positive, the results are listed under their hometown.

“Therefore, this increase may reflect South Brunswick students away at college, and not necessarily an increase in the community,” the office of emergency management said.

This brings the total number of cases in South Brunswick to 513.
