South Brunswick Schools Is Looking To Hire Substitute Staff Amid Shortage

The school district will be hosting an open house hiring event on July 26 and 27.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Several school districts in New Jersey are still facing teaching staff shortages. Despite several bills introduced by the state to curb the issue, the national problem persists.

The South Brunswick School District will be hosting a hiring open house on Wednesday, July 26 and Thursday, July 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.; and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 230 Black Horse Lane.

There are 29 elementary school teaching positions available, 12 in the high school and nine in the middle school.

In New Jersey, Gov. Phil Murphy launched a task force to find solutions to this problem. The group released its report earlier this year.

Recommendations include funding and supporting early career mentoring, creating leader-to-educator and peer-to-peer support systems; supporting work-life-balance; improving work conditions and more. You can find the whole report here.
