SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The South Brunswick School District is looking to hire substitute teachers to fill vacancies, as the national teacher shortage continues.
The school district has partnered with ESS to manage its substitute teacher program.
The district currently has seven vacancies in elementary schools, four vacancies in the high school including math and special ed, and three open positions in middle school.

Teacher shortage is a nationwide issue with roughly 300,000 educators leaving their jobs between Feb. 2020 and May 2022, according to August 2022 data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, reported by the Wall Street Journal.
From October, nearly half (45 percent) of public schools have at least one vacant teaching position, according to the latest School Pulse Panel survey by the National Center for Education Statistics.
