South Brunswick "Snowbank Burglar" Pops Up in North Brunswick, Police Say

The man who police say robbed a Rt. 1 liquor store and hid in a snowbank popped up in North Brunswick Sunday.

NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - The alleged South Brunswick snowbank liquor store robber — the man who broke into a Rt. 1 liquor store after last Thursday's snowstorm and then hid from police in a snowbank, and got frostbite — popped up again in North Brunswick Township Sunday.

North Brunswick police responded to an attempted burglary at the Quick Aid Pharmacy on Milltown Road just after midnight Saturday night. Upon their arrival, officers saw signs of an attempted forced entry burglary to the rear door. Officers searched the area and found George Pesavage, 47, of Flemington, loitering across the street in the Brunswick Shopping Center.

Pesavage admitted to police that he was in fact the person trying to break into the pharmacy, police said. He is the same person arrested just days prior in South Brunswick after hiding from police in a snow bank to avoid capture for breaking into Viking Buy-Rite Wine and Liquors, North Brunswick police said.

In the South Brunswick incident, Pesavage was charged and remanded to the Middlesex County Department of Corrections.

According to North Brunswick police, he indicated to detectives that even he couldn't believe that he was plainly released after just four hours. He was again transported to Middlesex County Corrections Sunday night, but police said Pesavage told them "that if he is again released so soon, he will again commit a similar crime in order to get by."
