South Brunswick won its second game on Saturday by a 5-3 score over the Rockland Riverdogs, a team from New York.

After an early advantage by the Riverdogs, the Storm took the lead. The pitching of Nick Montagna and RJ Witchger made sure it never gave it back.

The Storm finished the first day of the tournament as the number one seed.

Mike Elia had a tremendous first day, with three hits and seven RBI. Brandon Siroki was 3-for-5.

"Sciandra worked out of two consecutive bases-loaded, no-out situations without giving up a run," Manager Lenny Siroki said. "This was huge. The boys also allowed only four runs over two games, which was key. This speaks volumes about our pitching and fielding strength and depth.

"The level of competition only increases as we move up the ladder toward the championship."

After all the game were rained out on Sunday, the Storm defeated the Clarkstown Stars Red, 7-3, on Monday.

Jeff Lombardi, Sciandra and Witschger pitched well for the Storm, which also hit the ball very well. The storm had 14 hits in the game.

"We hit the ball and executed the bunt," General Manager Rob Witschger said. "There were no big hits but a lot of singles and doubles. Anytime you can move runners like that, you're going to put runs up on the board."

The Storm was defeated by the Lakewood Frozen Ropes Rampage, 11-3, in itheir second game on Monday.

"Rampage is a top notch team," Siroki said. "We faced them in the Flemington tournament, so we know what they're capable of doing on the field and at bat."

All Out Baseball National defeated the Rampage in the title game.

The Storm will play in the Baseball All Star Tournament in Edison, beginning July 8.
