South Brunswick Student's Comment About Las Vegas Prompts Police Investigation
A reference made to the Las Vegas mass shooting Tuesday led South Brunswick police to investigate a student.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A remark by a student Tuesday that mentioned the Las Vegas mass shooting led South Brunswick police to investigate, but no threat was found, police said.
South Brunswick police announced that they investigated the student yesterday after learning of a communication the juvenile sent that involved a third party and referenced the Las Vegas shooting. The third party contacted police and asked them to investigate.
"Officers and detectives conducted a thorough investigation into the communication and determined there was no threat," Deputy Chief James Stoddard said in a statement.

The South Brunswick school district was made aware of the statement, but Superintendent Scott Feder did not return Patch's call for clarification.
"We remind students and parents about being careful about any communication that can create alarm, regardless of the intention of the sender," said police. "We also recognize the importance of people coming forward with information so that can address concerns at the earliest moments."
