South Brunswick Tennis Cruises Through Week

Vikings now ready for state play.

Coming off a 5-0 win in what Coach Nancy McDonald called "a tuneup for state tournament play," the South Brunswick High School boys tennis team is running along very smoothly.

In recent play, South Brunswick has 5-0 wins against Piscataway on May 6, Edison on May 6, North Brunswick on May 11 and West Windsor North on May 13 in that "state tuneup."

"On Thursday, we defeated eleventh ranked Westfield," McDonald added.

South Brunswick's stellar play has earned it the top seed in the Central Jersey Group IV playoffs. South Brunswick got a bye in the first round and will host Marlboro on May 17.

South Brunswick comes into the tournament with all five slots in the lineup covered by very talented players.

Dylan Karchere-Sun is 12-1 at first singles. Nikhil Roy is 12-0 at second singles. Rohan Bhatia is 14-0 at third singles. Alberto Tenias-Nieli and Jag Buddhavarapu have also won singles matches.

Alberto Tenias-Nieli and Jag Buddhavarapu are the first doubles team and have a record of 12-0. Dan Shapiro and Arun Chocklingham are  9-2 at second doubles.

That's how a team wins the Greater Middlesex County Conference and earns the top seed in the Central Jersey Group IV field.
