South Brunswick Women Start Ramadan Sharing Initiative

The Ramadan Sharing Initiative encourages Muslims to share food with their non-Muslim friends or neighbors.

South Brunswick, NJ - The Muslim holiday of Ramadan is going on now, and two local South Brunswick women started the Ramadan Sharing Initiative.

The Ramadan Sharing Initiative encourages Muslims to share food, such as a plate of cookies, a basket of goodies or a bowl of dates with their non-Muslim friends, neighbors, co-workers and the greater community. Started by Azra Baig of South Brunswick and Saima Iqbal of North Brunswick, it is meant to help spread peace, love, kindness and goodwill among each other.

Ramadan, or the month of fasting from before sun-up until sundown for Muslims, began on Monday, June 6 and will last until July 5 this year.
