Special Thanksgiving Event - Feed the Needy/Homeless/Elderly
Muslims in Central Jersey got together on Thanksgiving to pack food for the needy/elderly at Islamic Society of Central Jersey.
The Islamic Society of Central Jersey got together with our Muslim community, on Thanksgiving Day, to pack food for the needy. We would like to extend a special thank YOU to everyone who came out to participate in helping with this effort. We were able to pack 10,000 packages. These pre-packed food were delivered to the elderly who are needy in the surrounding communities to Muslims and Non-Muslims.
Thank you to Zamir Hassan and the Hunger Van for their relentless efforts in providing a source for the communities to come together to feed the needy, the hungry, the homeless and/or the elderly.
Thank you to Dr. Ahmed Metwally for his inspirational talk.
We, as Muslims, have an obligation to do our part to eliminate hunger and to take care of the poor. We take that obligation very seriously, as it is part of our faith. “(The righteous are those) who feed the poor, the orphan and the captive for the love of God, saying: 'We feed you for the sake of God Alone; we seek from you neither reward nor thanks.’” The Holy Qu'ran, 76:8-9
