Local Blue Ribbon School Student Wins First Place for her Environmental Essay on Waste Reduction

Angela Cirelli, a Seventh Grade Student at St. Augustine of Canterbury School in Kendall Park NJ, recently won First Place in the Middlesex County Environmental Essay Contest. The topic for this 400 word essay was "What are some ways we can get our residents to reduce the amount of waste we make?" She was honored for this achievement on June 15th at the Board of Chosen Freeholders' Meeting in New Brunswick, and received a Samsung Tablet, as well as environmental books. Winning this award is one example of how STEM and the integration of Language Arts is a crucial element of the curriculum at St. Augustine of Canterbury, a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School.
