State Report Cards Show South Brunswick Graduation Rate Improvement

State School Report Cards show increase in graduation rate, as average class sizes increase.

Graduation rates improved in South Brunswick, while the average class size increased at some schools, according to the New Jersey school report cards released by the state for the 2009-2010 school year.

The increased class sizes were an expected outcome of cuts in state aid that has forced the district to cut staff.  Last year, staffing was cut by 111.9 full-time employees from across the district. This was done to help offset a $6.3 million reduction in state aid.

The state released information earlier in the school year for the district's standardized test scores, which showed South Brunswick''s students consistently scoring higher than state averages for their grade levels.
