NEW JERSEY - Two New Jersey Stop & Shop locations are closing their doors in 2022, according to a spokesperson for the grocery giant.

The Paramus store (located at 859 Route 17 S) shuttered on Jan. 13, while the South Brunswick store (in the Dayton section of town) is set to close on Feb. 24. That store is located at 24 Summerfield Blvd.

“After a detailed review of the operating performance of our stores, we made the difficult decision to close our Paramus and Dayton locations,” Stefanie Shuman, an external communications manager for Stop & Shop, told Patch.

All store and pharmacy associates have the opportunity to transfer to other area Stop & Shop locations, Shuman said.

The nearest Stop & Shop location to the Dayton store is in Franklin Park; the nearest location to the Paramus store is in Ridgewood.

After Feb. 24, Stop & Shop will still tout 59 New Jersey locations and roughly 400 brick-and-mortar stores on the east coast.
