Teens: Sign Up For Middlesex County's Conservation Corps

Apply by Feb. 6. Crews work Saturdays from April 6 through June 8. Work will primarily take place in Old Bridge, Monroe and South Brunswick.

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ — Middlesex County owns and maintains over 8,000 acres of Open Space. Do you have what it takes to protect and preserve it? Now’s your chance to find out: Applications are now being accepted for the Middlesex County Youth Conservation Corps!

The County recognizes that it takes a team effort to keep our open spaces clean and safe. Nature needs to be protected not only from natural forces like storms, but from pollution and misuse. That’s where the Conservation Corps, made up of students age 16 and over, comes in. If you enjoy being outdoors and don’t mind getting your hands dirty, it may be the right opportunity for you.

Conservation Corps crew members earn $10.00 per hour and will work Saturdays from April 6 through June 8, 2019. Work will primarily take place at County Open Spaces in Old Bridge, Monroe and South Brunswick.

“It takes time and effort to properly care for our trails and Open Spaces, and our Youth Conservation Corps has risen to the challenge each year,” said Freeholder Charles Kenny, chair of the County’s Infrastructure Management Committee. “Here, students grow as people while helping our environment grow, through teamwork and responsibility.”

“Our Youth Conservation Corps is a tremendous asset to the County, and a major reason why our Open Spaces remain clean, safe and beautiful,” said Middlesex County Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios. “The County wants to promote good environmental practices and safe, educational activities for our students, and this program offers the best of both goals.”
