The International Association for Human Values will present a seminar for teens and their parents.  This program, YES! Youth Empowerment Seminar, is an innovative and dynamic program that nurtures the qualities of creativity, compassion, leadership, and friendliness in today's youth, so that they can share themselves with the world to create a brighter future. Youth today face many challenges both inside and outside the classroom. This is a FREE introduction seminar on the YES program and you will learn a few techniques and processes to give a glimpse of what this program offers. Teens (ages 14 to 18) and their parents are encouraged to attend.

Wednesday

110 Kingston Ln, Monmouth Junction, 7 p.m.

This workshop will focus on fun activities to encourage such social skills as listening, taking turns, understanding and expressing emotions, cooperation, and developing empathy. Wear comfortable clothes and be prepared to be actively involved in this learning process. The program is conducted by Allison Ingram,  a licensed Speech Specialist with a Master's Degree from Rutgers University. She has worked in the South Brunswick School District for 24 years, primarily with preschool disabled and special needs children. She also runs social skills groups at FunSense Gym in Kingston and is a certified ChildLight Yoga instructor. Allison firmly believe that children must be actively involved in the learning process, so music and movement are a cornerstone of her therapy.

Incoming South Brunswick freshmen and high school students are welcome to shop. The mission is to have the South Brunswick communities, businesses, students, and high school staff work together in donating the basic clothing and accessory essentials for any students who are in need. No forms are required. All items have been donated and in turn all items are free of charge to all students. There will be all brands of clothing and accessories; Hollister, American Eagle, Nike, Adidas, Abercrombie, you name it they have it! They have sneakers, shoes, coats, gym wear, cleats, dresses, casual wear, jeans, dress shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, too many things to mention.  As the Viking Closet survives on donations, they are still looking for back to school essentials: backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils etc. The donation bins are located in the main lobby of the high school. You can drop off donations any time the school is open. The Viking Closet is located on the third floor of the South Brunswick high school in Room C300.
