Third Annual Halal Food Festival Draws Large Crowd
The event offered various cuisines and entertainment to thousands in the tri-state area.

More than 4,000 people attended Saturday’s third annual Halal Food Festival at Rowland Park in South Brunswick.
Organized by the Muslim Youth Community Center, the festival’s halal food – prepared according to Islamic guidelines and permissible for Muslims to eat – included cuisine from the Middle East, China, South Asia, Afghanistan and America. Non-food vendors at the event sold clothes, jewelry and books.
Entertainment at the event included performances by comedian Preacher Moss and spoken word poets, an all-day soccer match for adults and games for children.

The festival was launched in 2012 and inspired similar events in Chicago, London, Toronto and Malaysia.
All proceeds from the event were donated to charity.
