Boat, Two Car Collision Spilled 100 Gallons of Fuel on Route 1 In South Brunswick

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A collision involving a tractor trailer carrying a boat has closed Route One South at Sand Hill Road in South Brunswick this morning, officials said.
An alert sent out said a 7:41 a.m. accident involving a fuel spill would close the area for an "undetermined amount of time." The road reopened before 10 a.m., but cleanup crews will be on site until noon.
A tractor trailer carrying a boat jackknifed after the driver tried to slow down while approaching traffic. The tractor, driven by Peter Stamm, 49, sideswiped a Volvo. That car, driven by 27-year-old Christine Foy, struck the car in front of her: a Nissan driven by Chirayu Patel, 32.

The accident ruptured the tractors diesel gas tank, spilling one-hundred gallons of diesel fuel onto the road, police said.
There were no injuries, and police, EMS, Kendall Park FD and Middlesex County Hazmat are on scene working to clear the crash.
