Woodbridge Truck Stop Reveals Over 29 Kilos of Meth

A tractor trailer pulled over in Woodbridge Twp. in October had over 29 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden inside, according to the U.S. Attorney's office. The truck driver, a California man, pleaded guilty last Monday, April 10 to intending to sell the drug.

On Oct. 28, 2016, police stopped the tractor trailer in Middlesex County; the U.S. Attorney did not specify where in the county. Officers recovered approximately 29 kilograms of methamphetamine and $73,500 in cash from a concealed compartment located inside the cab of the trailer. Tomas Lopez Beltran, 45, of South Gate, California, admitted last week he intended to distribute the methamphetamine and cash to an individual in Georgia. He pleaded guilty in U.S. federal court last week.

The count of intending to distribute that much of a drug carries a minimum potential penalty of 10 years.
