March 6, 13, 20 and 27: Afternoon Adventures (Grades K-3)

This weekly early elementary class combines imaginative and informative stories with creative crafts and engaging activities chosen to strengthen late childhood social, mental, and fine motor development. 4:45 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.
March 6 – Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss
March 13 – St. Patrick’s Day
March 20 – Spring Into Action
March 27 – Welcome to Legoland!
April 3 – Celebrate Mexican Culture

March 7, 14, 21 and 28 at 5:30 p.m. Mixed-Level Yoga and Meditation

The class includes a one-hour period of Yoga instruction, with variations in difficultly suitable for new to experienced practitioners, and with a half-hour of meditation to follow. There is another, separate Beginner/Intermediate Yoga class taught by another teacher following this class at 7:30 p.m. The classes are not interchangeable; you must attend the same session for which you registered for the entire five weeks. The next session will begin on April 4, 2019 This is followed by a beginner/intermediate level yoga class from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. on these same dates.

ESL Social Club Meets Monday Afternoons at the Library
Stop by the ESL (English as a Second Language) Social Club any Monday from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in Program Room 1A/1B at the South Brunswick Public Library, 110 Kingston Lane in Monmouth Jct. The club is especially good for anyone new to the area. The mission of the ESL Social Club is to socialize and integrate newcomers into our community. All are welcome. Monday, March 11: Night Owls (Ages 3 & up)

Some stories are best told by moonlight! Wear pajamas and bring a favorite stuffed friend for stories, songs, games, crafts and activities! This children's class is open to South Brunswick Public Library card-holding families. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Monday, March 11: Job seeker and resume workshop

Learn to use the resources available a the Library to find a job and write an effective resume. Registration is required to participate. These free workshops are held in the SMART Lab. On March 11: How to Search for a Job – Resources for Job Seekers, Monday, March 11 at 6:30 p.m.
Learn how to use job search resources including career databases, websites, and more. Try free online classes on creating resumes, cover letters, and practice computer skills. Registration required.

On April 22: How to Write an Effective Resume, Monday, April 22 at 6:30 p.m.
Learn how to write an effective resume with an overview of resources from the library that can assist you in your job search. No critique of individual information will be available; only general questions will be answered. Registration required.

Monday, March 18: 7 p.m. Free Meditation Class at Library

Attend "The Secret to a Peaceful Life" meditation class on Monday, March 18 at 7 p.m.

Many of us worry about the future or dwell upon the past. Our mind is constantly in turmoil. In this program, will explore the healing power of meditation and how to unlock the door to a life of improved physical and emotional well-being. Meditation is much more than a simple tool to help people reduce stress but rather it helps to positively transform our lives. Meditation can enhance our happiness on an individual level and is the secret to profound personal well-being and global healing. Join Jim Rose, long time meditator for this engaging program. There will even be two short meditation sittings.

Rose, M Ed., Rutgers University, is a retired executive of Johnson & Johnson a multi-national corporation. He has 35 years of experience in Human Resources management, employee development and conflict resolution. He was recognized by Human Resources Executive magazine as one of the top HR executives in the US. Jim currently provides workshops and training to groups throughout the world where he connects meditation and spiritual development to important aspects of our lives. He has been meditating for over 30 years and now focuses much of his time on his own spiritual development and in helping others who wish to do the same. If you have ever attended one of Jim's workshops, you know how special they are.

Monday, March 18: Travelogue If you are an avid traveler, trip planner or a dreamer, join us for an informal evening where we share our experiences and discover new destinations, new travel resources and meet new friends. Registration requested.

Join the discussion about vacations, travel, destinations and more at the monthly Travelogue discussion group. The next meetings are on Monday, March 18 and Monday, April 15 at 7:15 p.m. in the SMART Lab. Registration requested. Friday/Saturday March 22/March 23: Makers' Day 2019!

Join us for this annual state-wide celebration of “maker culture!” There will be a variety of hands-on activities for all ages, from cooking to technology to crafts, and more. To view the complete schedule of Makers Day activities at the Library, click and print the Schedule of Events!
Some workshops are for select age groups. Please check the schedule for more details. A printed schedule is available using the link above. Copies are also be available at the Library.
New Jersey Makers Day is an annual celebration of “maker culture” that helps individuals and organizations (schools, colleges, libraries, museums and commercial maker spaces) by coordinating free hands-on learning experiences at hundreds of locations throughout the state.
