Veteran Street Sign Program Returns To South Brunswick This Spring

Program will dedicate street signs to honorably discharged wartime veterans, with public ceremonies scheduled throughout spring.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - The Township will recognize local veterans for their service through the Veterans Recognition Street Naming Initiative this spring.

The Veteran Street Sign Program allows residents who were Wartime Veterans to be honored by adding their name on a secondary street sign to an existing municipal road.

By adding the names of local Wartime Veterans to public street signs, South Brunswick seeks to promote public awareness of these individuals while showing appreciation for their outstanding contributions and service to our Country as members of the United States Armed Forces.

Eligible military candidates for this honor include honorably discharged Veterans having served in Military Departments as defined under the Department of Defense, which include the Departments of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. Wartime Veterans are individuals who served in the active military forces during a period of armed conflict or who received armed forces expeditionary or other campaign service medals during an emergency condition, including those who died in the line of duty in the active military forces.

“This program is a meaningful way for our community to recognize and remember the brave men and women who have served our country,” Mayor Charlie Carley said in a media statement. “By honoring these veterans with street dedications, we ensure their legacy lives on and remains visible to future generations.”
