SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — Fall is coming and everyone's favorite farm market and corn maze, Von Thun's, is getting ready! This week, Von Thun's Country Market, located off Ridge Road in South Brunswick, announced the theme for their 2019 corn maze: "Celebrating 150 Years of College Football."

The design, which incorporates the logos and football helmets of nearby Rutgers and Princeton universities, is etched into a 6+-acre corn field with lots of twists and turns. As they do every year, visitors will be tested on their knowledge of college football to get out of the maze. Last year, the theme at Von Thun's was "Avengers," and visitors were asked trivia questions about the Marvel comic universe to find their way out of the corn maze.

The corn maze will open on Saturday, September 21 for the first of seven Fall Festival weekends. Von Thun’s, at 505 Ridge Road in Monmouth Junction, has been in operation for over 100 years and has been welcoming families to the farm every fall for a corn maze, hayrides and apple and pumpkin picking.

“Since our farm is less than 10 miles from both Rutgers and Princeton, it seemed fitting for
our 2019 corn maze to honor the two institutions that started this American tradition,” said Tim Von Thun, a fifth-generation farmer at Von Thun’s. “I am a huge college football fan myself and am looking forward to seeing some friendly competition among visitors.”

"In 2017 we had a Minion maze; the year before that was a tribute to the Mets' Mike Piazza for being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame," said John VanLiew, one of the managers at Von Thun's. "And our most popular maze ever was the one we did for Derek Jeter — his face was cut into the maze. People came from all around for that one."

The maze design, expertly cut into over six acres of corn, incorporates the College Football 150th Anniversary logo as well as the helmets and logos of both the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and Princeton Tigers. Visitors entering the maze will pass through a 2,100 square foot turf football field complete with goal posts and a scoreboard. Perfect for photo opportunities, this section sets the stage for the rest of the maze experience.

The maze should be lots of fun for kids and adults alike: As visitors walk through the corn maze, they will have the ability to answer a series of questions testing their college football knowledge. If they get the answer correct, they will be provided with a directional hint to keep them on the right path. Maze-goers can also try their hand at three other interactive games within the maze.

Admission for Von Thun's Fall Festival Weekends (formerly Fall Harvest Weekends) is $12.99 per person plus tax. Admission for their Fall Festival PLUS Weekends (formerly Fall Festival Weekends - 10/12-13 & 10/19-20) is $15.99 per person plus tax and includes live entertainers, live music and additional vendors.

Beyond the maze, Von Thun’s offers a variety of other activities: Hop on a hayride to the pumpkin patch or take aim with the pumpkin blasters and corn cannons to try to hit targets in the middle of the field. They can also enjoy the activity area that offers more than 35 activities including a moon bounce, barnyard basketball, mini golf and much more.

Von Thun’s Country Farm Market is located off of Rt. 130 in Monmouth Junction. Its address is 505 Ridge Road, Dayton, NJ 08810. Von Thun’s also has a sister location with the same maze design in
Washington, NJ (Warren County).
