A 2013 car with only 6,000 miles on it burst into flames just after the South Brunswick driver pulled over, police said.

At 11 p.m., a 43-year-old South Brunswick man was riding home from work when he smelled smoke in his car. The man said he had recently purchased the 2013 Nissan Altima, so he pulled over on Northumberland Way to determine what the problem was, police said.

He got out of his vehicle and looked under the hood, seeing flames coming from the engine, police said. So he called 911.
