"When Winter Comes" Gallery Talk in South Brunswick on Oct. 3
The first of three monthly programs to accompany the "When Winter Comes" exhibit, which continues through Dec. 26.

”When Winter Comes,” a juried exhibit sponsored by South Brunswick Arts Commission at The Gallery in South Brunswick Municipal Buildng, includes 12 artists from South Brunswick and 25 from surrounding towns.
One of these is Dayton photographer John Sandstedt who will show us through his pictures, “The Magic of Monochrome.” Sandstedt is a graduate of the New York Institute of Photography and member of the staff of the New Jersey Federation of Camera Clubs.
In the beginning, all photographic images were black and white. For more than 75 years, people marveled at classic interpretations of the world set forth in monochrome. When color positive film was invented, followed shortly thereafter by color print film, amateur photographers were quick to abandon B&W, relegating it effectively just to professionals.

With the burgeoning of digital photography, monochrome images have regained their long lost stature. Professional and amateur photographers now create magnificent black and white images using any of a variety of image editing software programs, without the inherent safety issues of the wet darkroom.
This is the first of three monthly programs to accompany this exhibit, which continues through December 26. The public is welcome to attend on subsequent monthly Monday programs, from 6:30 p.m.– 8 p.m.
