Whooping Cough Pops Up Near South Brunswick

A student at Millstone Elementary School and an Allentown high school student both have highly contagious whooping cough.

Millstone, NJ - A student at Millstone Elementary School just south of South Brunswick Township is confirmed as having highly contagious whooping cough, reports Freehold Patch.

This is in addition to a high school student at Allentown High School in Allentown, NJ who was diagnosed with whooping cough last week, reports Patch. The high school student’s siblings attend Millstone elementary and middle schools and were showing symptoms of the illness, as well. They are currently being treated.

Whooping cough is a highly contagious respiratory infection and school officials are telling parents to keep an eye on their children who may have been exposed to it, according to the report. If your child has a cough, ”don’t brush it off. This is the time that you take your child to the doctor,” Millstone’s schools superintendent Scott Feder said.
