A woman was killed Saturday when an SUV crashed into the outdoor dining area of a restaurant and seven others were injured. A Saddle Brook police officer was struck in a hit-and-run Sunday. Below are the headlines you may have missed from the weekend in New Jersey:

Fire Chief's Wife Killed In Restaurant Crash

Ursula Keating, 56, of Toms River, the wife of Silverton Volunteer Fire Company Chief John Keating Jr., was killed Saturday when a 93-year-old driver hit the accelerator instead of the brake at Meg's Grill, Lavallette police said. Support is being organized for the family.

Driver Trapped And Killed Under Vehicle

A driver was ejected and trapped under his vehicle in a crash near McCarter Highway and Exit 5 in Newark around 9:11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19. He was pronounced dead at 9:37 p.m.

Pedestrian Struck And Killed

Welther Briggs, 51, of Willingboro, was struck and killed by a vehicle on Route 130 South at Pennypacker Drive early Sunday, according to NJ.com. Edgewater Park police and the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office are investigating and asking witnesses to come forward.

Officer Struck In Hit-And-Run

A Saddle Brook police officer conducting a traffic stop was hit by a passing vehicle Sunday morning, and the driver fled, according to the New Jersey State Police Benevolent Association. The union said he is in stable condition. The officer was conducting a traffic stop when the incident occurred.

Drivers Injured In Head-On Crash

Two men were hurt when a Toyota Corolla and a Honda Accord collided head-on around 2:47 a.m. Sunday, on Jersey Avenue near Triangle Road, according to News 12 New Jersey. The 26-year-old Corolla driver was seriously injured, and the 25-year-old Accord driver had minor injuries.
