Woman Walks Into Burglary At South Brunswick Townhouse Tuesday

A woman in Monmouth Walk came home from work Tuesday afternoon to find a man inside her house, burglarizing it, said police.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — South Brunswick police said they were on the scene of a burglary on Heather Court in the Monmouth Walk development off Rt. 522 Tuesday.

At just past 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon police responded to Heather Court after a resident came home from work and interrupted a burglary in progress. The resident said they came home from work at around 2:30 p.m. and heard a noise upstairs, but did not think much of it.

A few minutes later while the resident was eating in the kitchen they heard a second noise and became concerned. The resident stepped out front of her home and called 911 from her front lawn with her neighbor also outside.

Both residents observed a man on the second floor of her home looking out the window at them. The male suspect ran downstairs, broke through a rear screen door and fled. Officers are still in the area searching along with a Middlesex County Sheriff K9 unit.

The suspect was described as a dark-skinned man with a thin build wearing a red shirt.

Police are asking residents in the Monmouth Walk Development to review any Ring Doorbell or surveillance video to see for any activity between 2 and 3:15 p.m. Anyone with information is asked to call (732) 329-4646.
